Since the release of the iPhone 5 many people have been confused about whether they should look at this new phone or stick to the iPhone 4S. The Phone Design
When you glance at the two phones they look almost identical as they both offer the overall iPhone design. However, when you look a little deeper you will find that there are some design differences. The standby time when you are not connected to the internet is better with the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 offers 225 hours or 9.4 days of battery standby while the iPhone 4S offers 200 or 8.3 days of standby battery life. This means that you can go longer without charging when you use the iPhone 5.

When you are connected to the 3G network, the talk time on the phones drops to 8 hours of continuous talk time on each phone. This is long enough to get your through the day, but only just. A lot of consumers were expecting the talk time to be much better with the iPhone 5.

The Hardware
When you look at the technical aspects of the hardware you will find that the iPhone 5 does offer the better specs. This is due to the iPhone being a newer model phone than the iPhone 4S. The chip set n the iPhone 5 is an A6 chip with a dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. The iPhone 4S offers an A5 chip with a dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM.

What this means to the user is that the iPhone 5 should offers a better overall performance because of the better hardware. However, when you test the phones head to head you will find that both offer a flawless performance. There are certain tasks where the iPhone 5 is slightly faster, but this is to be expected.

The internal memory that you get with these phones are the same. Some people were expecting a larger internal memory with the iPhone 5, but they have to be description with the regular memory increments offered by iPhone. Both of these phones come with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal memory and no means of expansion.

The Camera
The iPhone 5 is advertised as one of the best camera phones on the market and it has proven itself against other phones. However, the front camera offers different hardware as the iPhone 5 has a 1.2 megapixel camera while the iPhone 4S has a 0.3 megapixel camera.
The iPhone 5 also offers a number of features in the camera interface that you cannot get with the iPhone 4S. Both of the phones have digital image stabilising software which makes their pictures clear and detailed.

Browsing the Internet
The internet browsing experience with these two phones is almost identical. The larger screen on the iPhone 5 does offer overall better navigation. However, both of these phones are running on Safari mobile which does not offer Adobe Flash support. As both of the phones are on iOS6 they do not offer the same amount of browser support and add-ons that you can get with other operating systems.

Should You get a iPhone 4S Deal?
When you look at what the networks have to offer you will see that many of them still offer a number of iPhone 4S deals to UK customers. Some of these deals are cheaper than the ones for iPhone 5, but there are other networks that offer these deals at the same price as the iPhone 5. This is mainly due to certain consumers finding that there is little difference between the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5.
