The importance of H2S Analysers in analyzing gas streams

2 Min Read

Industries such as ceramic factories, gas plants and steel industries are those that have the huge bearing of overhead and additional expenses. These industries produce vital elements such as power, electricity, cement and steel.
When these elements get contaminated, the consequences will be dire. Imagine a contamination in cement and it goes undetected. The building that is made out of adulterated cement can go down any day. Imagine how many lives are at stake at that very point. That is why contamination in these materials must be identified as early as possible.

This is when H2S analysers come into the play. These are devices that measure the amount of H2S (Hydrogen Sulphide) present inside gas streams. Hydrogen Sulphide is a highly toxic substance and can corrode and inflame many substances due to its highly toxic properties.

Human exposure to H2S will lead to even dire consequences. People who are directly exposed to H2S will suffer from a shortness of breath and might even transcend into coma and death. Overall, one can say that H2S is a harmful substance to both life and other elements. That is why it becomes essential to eliminate the presence of this gas from all gas streams. And, to eliminate it, we need to keep the level of the gas in constant check. That is where these analysers come in handy.

These process analysers are placed inside the chambers and are constantly switched on thereby keeping a real time check on the H2S levels. This is a touch screen device and hence the level of H2S exposure while operating the device is not at all an issue.

The usage of H2S detectors is especially useful in case of refineries, petroleum industries and pipelines. H2S is a highly combustible and corroding substance and naturally it becomes highly dangerous when it gets created in pipelines. So, the usage of these analyzers is especially followed in the petroleum industry. What this device is actually a sensor that can detect the presence of H2S. These sensors are in turn connected with a touch screen display that reads out the level of H2S analyzed by the sensor.

The device is just a sensor and in no way acts as a controller. So, once the touch screen display level goes beyond the threshold value, the best possible approach would be to stop the entire process, find the source of H2S leakage, stop it and then switch the device back on.
