Kick off the year with Festes de Sant Sebastiá, aka St Sebastian’s Festival. Settle in for a whole week of celebrations in the name of Palma’s patron saint, with a range of activities to suit everyone. Enjoy the glorious smoky bonfire smell as Palma is lit up in the evenings by locals grilling spicy sobrassada and traditional botifarron sausages over the bonfires. Towards the end of January as the festival winds down, a variety of DJs and bands take to the main square to entertain the masses with music of many different genres. Head down to Festes de Sant Sebastiá to eat some fantastic traditional cuisine and dance the night away!
Festa des Vermar
People from all over the island and beyond gather for Festa des Vermar – and it is no wonder when this festival has so much to offer. Taking place in mid-September following grape harvesting season, the town of Binissalem transforms into a party zone, hosting wine tasting and grape-throwing competitions. Not only are there many grape-related celebrations, there’s also a mass outdoor supper, at which you can sample home cooked Mallorcan delicacies. Leave your expectations at the door and join in the fun atmosphere, but don’t forget your umbrella – because you’ll need it if you get too close to the grape-throwing!
Dijous Bo
Inca’s November festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. You can browse authentic Mallorcan wares and admire local arts and crafts. Get back in touch with your childish side and enjoy all the vibrant fun of this fabulous fair.
