Exploring Punta Prima on Foot or Bike

2 Min Read

Heading to Menorca? Villa holidays in Punta Prima are a great way to enjoy the sun and surf of the island, especially if you like to stretch your legs a bit while doing so. This lovely resort is a particularly attractive destination for those who enjoy walking or cycling.

But where, exactly, can you go if you plan to explore the area around the resort on foot or on bike? Here are some of the more notable destinations to keep in mind.

Morro d’Alcaufar

If you want to explore the beautiful coast around Punta Prima then head east-northeast of the resort. You’ll eventually come across an old tower: Morro d’Alcaufar. It was part of the many fortifications erected centuries ago to defend the island against foreign invaders, but now is one of the most notable landmarks along the eastern coast of Menorca. Villa holidays in Punta Prima afford easy access to this relatively easy walk or cycle over the coastal roads, which is the perfect way to stretch your legs a little without venturing too far from your accommodation.

Barranc de Rafalet

Feel like challenging yourself while exploring the area? Punta Prima puts you relatively close to Barranc de Rafalet, a ravine just northwest of S’Algar. You can take the coastal route to the ravine, passing along Morro d’Alcaufar in the process, or you can take the inland route following the various trails leading north of the resort. This is the place to go when you want a rougher, wilder setting to explore.

Sant Luis

The pretty town of Sant Luis is a great place to explore on Menorca villa holidays based in Punta Prima, and the inland town offers quite a good shopping experience too. It’s a fair distance from the resort, but it’s a brilliant day out if you’re game for a longer walk or a brisk cycle.

Torret

If you want to explore an idyllic village that epitomises the relaxed atmosphere of the Mediterranean, complete with whitewashed houses and draping bougainvillea, head to Torret. There are many paths leading to the village – which are perfect for walking or cycling – while the village itself is a delight to explore.

Binidali

Want to explore the many other resort villages dotting the south-eastern coast of Menorca? Villa holidays in Punta Prima make a good starting point for the journey, as you’ll simply need to follow the coastal roads west. Head for Binidali and enjoy a host of resorts and villages dotting the coastline. A bike comes highly recommended for this excursion, although the energetic can also tackle it on foot.
