Buġibba is one of the boogiest places in the southern Mediterranean. North of Malta’s capital Valetta, tourists flock to Buġibba all year round for its sandy beach, waterpark, and the bars and restaurants which flourish throughout the town. The town centre is a delightful mix of cobbled streets and cafés offering all the wonderful food and drink you could desire when on holiday. What goes on after dark however, is the real beauty of Buġibba. The amazing nightlife pulls in young people from across the island and beyond to party until the sun comes up in one of the many clubs and bars. Here are some of the coolest:
Velvet
A proper club, Velvet has a bar upstairs and a dancefloor underneath. Located on the main strip, catch a young and vibrant crowd enjoying great deals on spirits and cocktails. With professional DJs blasting tunes well into the night, you can’t go wrong on a squad night out at Velvet.
Ta’ Fra Ben Reggae Bar
For a break from the busy town centre, wander along the promenade to Ta’ Fra Ben. This reggae bar has a very chilled vibe with amazing views over the sea and great music. Like-minded people come to the bar to chat, drink vibrant and exotic cocktails, and move their feet.
Fat Harry’s Pub
Fat Harry’s is an institution. A famous location among holiday goers, the pub is just off the main square and is always bustling with people. Surprisingly spacious inside and out, Fat Harry’s has played host to a number of live bands over the years. It also screens all the live football, offers a great selection of beers, and is open from morning to late 7 days a week so it’s always there when you need it.
Black ‘N’ White
For all your hip hop and R&B cravings, Black ‘N’ White have you covered. Right in the main square, you don’t have to look hard to find this bouncing bar and club, which like Fat Harry’s is open every single night in the summer. A quick one (or five) at Fat Harry’s then off to Black ‘N’ White a few doors down, is a way of life in Buġibba.
Café Del Mar
One of the biggest and best lido-clubs on the island of Malta, Café Del Mar is a must visit. For this huge party space, you will have to travel a bit out of the centre, which doesn’t matter on such a tiny island, and it is worth it. The parties they throw here are legendary, with great DJs, cocktails, and young people looking for a good time.
