Looking for the perfect place to take the kids on a thrilling ski holiday? I personally be-lieve that Belle Plagne, situated in the popular ski resort of La Plagne, is the ideal place for a mini family ski break because it is a friendly, small and relaxed village that provides easy access to the Paradiski region. The excellent nursery slopes are perfect for young learners, plus there are fun snow play areas that the kids are sure to love.
In addition to this, there is an abundance of family-friendly accommodation in La Plagne. Chalets are either catered and self-catered, and families tend to prefer these options to staying in hotels, as they are generally homier and provide more privacy.
Only got one day to spare for a ski holiday? No problem! Here is what a 24-hour mini break in this picturesque village could look like.
Morning
What better way to kick-start the day than with an exhilarating bobsleigh experience? La Plagne boasts its very own Olympic bobsleigh track, which will certainly get your blood pumping. The four-seater is a good choice for families, as it is a fun shared experience and allows you to reach blistering speeds of up to 80 kmh!
Lunch
After all of that excitement, you will have worked up quite the appetite, so I recommend calling into the lovely Le Chalet du Friolin Restaurant. Nestled between La Plagne and Les Arcs at 1800m, this traditional mountain lodge serves up tasty local homemade cui-sine that is sure to hit the spot. This can be enjoyed either on the sun terrace, from where you can soak up mesmerising mountain views, or in the inviting dining room, where there is a roaring log fireplace.
Skiing
You will be raring to hit the slopes after lunch, and you’ll certainly be spoilt for choice. With over 425 km of pistes on your doorstep and skiing that’s suited to all levels, every-one should be able to have a terrific time on the slopes and develop their skills. Addi-tionally, there are both adult and children’s ski lessons available if you or the kids need guidance. These classes can be a great way to socialise and make new friends, too!
Dinner
Tummies will be rumbling after a long afternoon of shredding powder, and there are a few wonderful options for a delicious dinner. La Godille Restaurant is a traditional Savoyard eatery found at the base of Belle Plagne, where you can enjoy fondue, ra-clette, pierrade, pizzas and other scrumptious snacks. You can either eat in the cosy din-ing area or on the large sun terrace (they even have BBQs when the weather is decent). Alternatively, Le Matafan Restaurant is another brilliant, family-friendly establishment that’s conveniently located in the heart of the village. Here you can fill up on traditional Savoyard food and tantalising grilled meats.
Post-Dinner
After your busy and fun-filled day, you will be ready to head home and chill out for the evening. Fortunately, it is peaceful at night in La Plagne. Chalets here are perfect for re-laxing with a board game or film in front of the fire before retiring to bed for what is sure to be a deep sleep!
This is what a typical 24 hours could look like if you whisk the family away to Belle Plagne in La Plagne. Chalets are a good option for families, as you will feel at home and can enjoy family breakfasts and relaxing evenings in. What’s not to love?
