Having always been blessed with a generous, womanly figure, I have been in a position of searching for special occasion clothing more often than finding it. Sad, isn’t it? Well, I’m happy to report that things are looking up!

A recent online hunt for a cocktail dress to wear to my husband’s 40th birthday yielded some amazing results. Here are just some of my favorite finds:

On online fashion megastore Zappos.com I fell in love with a Kiyonna sexy red wrap dress. The v-neckline and ruffled closing in the front show the perfect amount of cleavage and leg, while being very forgiving of any imperfections. The three quarter sleeves give it an elegant touch. This dress has just a touch of spandex, giving it just enough stretch to fit perfectly. Easy-on wrapping with an A-line skirt and a self-belt creates the perfect look for a curvy woman. Sized for every plus sized figure up to a 5X, it’s also affordable at less than $75.

Fashion powerhouse JJSHouse.com has an amazing array of plus size cocktail dresses. I’m particular about a lustrous charmeuse A-line full skirted dress with a halter top. What a stunner! With over 30 colors to choose from choosing just one starts to become a problem. The waist is accented with a vertical row of sparkling faux gems at one side. With a built in bra a girl can be confident she will look her sexy best the entire evening. Sizes range from a 2 to a 26, at a very doable $116.

Bringing a classic into the digital era, Macys.com sure didn’t disappoint. By Trixxi, a coral strapless A-line cocktail dress with a flattering ruched bodice and highlighted with a rhinestone neckline caught my eye. This dress will bring out the sexy in you hitting right at the knee, and will make you glow with a gorgeous, glittering finish. There is certain to be one for every body in sizes 14 to 24, and the price is right at only $89.

Also at Macys.com, an SL Fashions beautiful embroidered box pleated dress had me drooling. It has a flattering faux wrap bodice, creating a two piece look. The black V-neck top is set off with cap sleeves. The self-tie ribbon sash at the waistline completes the look. The bottom of the soft beige dress is gracefully embroidered in black. This is a great outfit to show off your curves at any special occasion. Sizes range from 14 to 24, and it is a fitting $109.

Timeless favorite JC Penny, at jcpenny.com, contributed a classy Danny and Nicole dress in a deep green describes as “Everglades” with a very concealing peplum design and the perfect touch of spandex to keep the fit right. The wide boat neckline is finished with flattering cap sleeves. It is a graceful style, snug in all the right places to flatter a womanly figure. Sizes run from 14 to 24, and at $75, who could complain?

Now for the hard part: Choosing only one!
