31202Snow Before you Go: Off-Ski Activities in St Anton

No Comments 2 Min Read

Deeply packed snow, perfect powder and wondrous mountain terrain: all conditions that make for sensational skiing both on and off-piste. Combine this with a modern lift system, quality restaurants, and a picturesque Austrian town, and it’s easy to see why St Anton is regarded as one of the best ski resorts in the world. Thanks to the adventurous terrain, the resort is renowned for a vast array of runs and has become especially popular with experts. However, it is still considered an excellent destination for beginners and intermediate levels.

The village itself has maintained a traditional Austrian charm, but don’t mistake this picture-perfect community as a bore. While people come for the slopes, they stay for the vibrant après ski and lively nightlife. There are fantastic accommodation options suitable for all kinds of groups, and if you like the idea of staying in a catered chalet, St Anton has some excellent options.

While the snow and schnapps may be the star attractions, there’s a whole host of alternative activities to keep you entertained.

Winter Hiking

The first thing you’ll notice is the sheer beauty of this scenic tree-lined valley, much like a storybook world of quaint villages and mirror-like lakes. Explore this beautiful terrain on foot, following trails that vary from a 2-kilometre stroll to a full 20-kilometre hike.

Ice Skating

Trade the shopping centre backdrop for something a little more authentic with a couple hours of skating at the resort’s rink, found outside the wellness centre. Open from 1 pm, it’s a lovely way to while away the afternoon.

Visit Valluga for the Views

You don’t have to be into snow sports to appreciate the beauty of the frozen mountains. Take a cable car to the top of Mt. Valluga and experience the panoramic views of the Verwall range, then treat yourself to lunch in the region’s highest restaurant.

Rock Climbing

In this winter wonderland, there really is something for everyone. The Arl.Rock Centre gives you the choice of indoor and outdoor climbing; a fun alternative for amateur adventurers.

Tobogganing

Take a trip back in time and experience a ride on the famous toboggan run. For full authenticity, you can pick up a traditional wooden sled from the base of the run, or just hire one from a shop in the village. This is good old fun that adults and children can both enjoy!

This top-notch resort is sure to please everyone with a fabulous choice of activities and excellent amenities. All you have to do is choose your home away from home. Whether it’s a private apartment or your own catered chalet, St Anton is a no-brainer when it comes to choosing your next winter escape destination.
