Rock to the Rhythm of Amsterdam’s Summer Festivals

2 Min Read

Festivals are a great activity for people of any age, and one of the best places to go for them is Amsterdam. Airport transport can get you downtown quickly and easily, and even events further out are often accessible via shuttle services. Read on to learn about some of the city’s best summer music events.

A Summer Destination

As one of Europe’s most popular, cosmopolitan cities, it’s always a great time to book your flight to Amsterdam, airport transport and hotel – but the town really comes to life in the summer, buzzing and humming with vibrant energy. Classic activities like al fresco dining and drinking out on patios will fight with free park theatre and rooftop cinema screenings for your attention.

And then, of course, there’s the festivals. The city hosts a staggering 300+ events every year, and the vast majority of these are in the summer. While food, culture and just about everything else are all well represented, in this article we’ve focused on dancing.

Loveland

One of the biggest such events in the city is Loveland. It is held in the Sloterpark, a peninsula jutting out into the Sloterplas Lake. Travel to the Nieuw-West district in August to sample music from the six main stages – and don’t forget to check out the elaborate stage and set design!

Dance Valley

In many ways it is the godfather of European dance festivals. This event in the Velsen Valley is arguably the longest running in the world, celebrating its 25th year in 2019. Huge, colourful stages play host to the best, covering all aspects of the genre and featuring local up-and-comers on the same bills as established international stars. Though the valley is a little out of town, it’s well worth the additional trip to dance and party in this wonderful environment.

Appelsap Fresh

While the name might suggest an appreciation of different varieties of apple juice, this is another music festival, themed around the concept of freshness rather than the actual picking and production of fruit juices. Held in another of the city’s parks, this time the beautiful Flevopark, Appelsap prides itself on hosting young and fresh acts. Though it’s also themed around electronic music, there’s a much stronger focus on hip hop here, and it’s the perfect excuse to experience some soulful songs in the sun.

How to Get There

Many airlines offer cheap and regular flights from the UK, and once you land, pre-booked Amsterdam Airport transport is a great way to get where you need to go on time and without fuss.

As you can see, there are a lot of great reasons to go to Amsterdam: airport transport and shuttle services can get you around, and the city bursts with activity over summer. Why not plan a trip to your favourite festival now?
