Ski vacations are about much more than shredding powder each day – especially if you’re going on holiday with a group of fun-loving mates. Brilliant resorts like La Plagne offer all kinds of exciting activities other than skiing or snowboarding, which are always a barrel of laughs and ensure that there is never a dull moment.
Something else that I really like about this resort is the fact that it also has a range of ter-rific catered chalets to choose from; this means that you can sleep in, make your own food and chill out! The wide range of catered chalets also means that you should be able to find one that’s within your budget and that is well-suited to your needs.
Here are a few of my favourite alternative activities to try on a group holiday in La Plagne.
Olympic Bobsled Track
The scintillating Olympic bobsled track is a major attraction at the resort, as it is the only one in all of France. With over 1500 metres of track and 19 bends, this unique experi-ence will certainly get your heart racing, and is sure to become a standout memory from the trip. There are four adrenaline-inducing experiences to choose from, with each one more thrilling than the last. These are bob rafting, speed luge, bob racing and an Olympic experience (which reaches speeds of up to 130km/h!).
Snakegliss
Skiing and snowboarding are both great fun, but the resort also offers a range of alterna-tive ways to traverse the snow. One of the most popular ones is snakegliss, which is a collective sled on which you and your mates sit in a row and then work together to steer. Chaos and hilarity always ensues, but it can also be incredibly rewarding and satisfying once you master it.
Snowbike
Ordinarily, attempting to cycle in the ice and snow should be avoided at all costs. How-ever, snowbiking here is a cool new activity, which is made possible with cleverly de-signed bikes. These interesting devices can make it (relatively) easy to conquer the snow, providing a different, fun-filled way of hitting the slopes.
Trikke
You may have used Trikkes on paved surfaces, but they are even better when you are tearing down a mountain. Usually, these contraptions have three wheels, but on the mountains, they’re replaced with two small skis. This makes for an exhilarating experi-ence that is visually similar to skiing, but technically very different. You will have to sharpen your senses to become a master!
Snowscoot
Snowscooters use two different boards, a fork and a guidon for control. This contraption allows you to fly down the slopes at great speeds, and is a fun and alternative way to get across the snow. Many people find this even more enjoyable than skiing and snow-boarding.
These are just a few of the fun, new and exciting activities that are available in La Plagne. When this is combined with homey catered chalets, superb skiing and snowboarding and a lively atmosphere, you have the perfect ingredients for an unforgettable trip with your crew.
