Preparing For Your New Feathered Addition

2 Min Read

Dogs are known to be man’s best friend and cats are known to be elegant, independent and sometimes another version of man’s best friend. Then you have the somewhat unorthodox pets such as lizards, turtles, snakes and spiders that some people like to keep. But then there are those beautiful creatures that have a way of pleasing us both aesthetically and musically: birds.

Birds are such eye-catching, beautiful creatures that come in a variation of hues and create such beautiful, melodious music. If you are planning to welcome these unique creatures into your home, there are a few things that you need to take care of first.

Bird Cage

Bar Bird Cages-The most common birdcages that are used are the bar bird cages. These wired birdcages consist of a plain floor and bars that run vertically and horizontally on all four sides, and sometimes even the roof. These range in different sizes with different features such as an activity bar to hang different toys, perches and ceramic rocks. They are usually kept closed by standard spring-loaded double locks and locking casters.

Modern bird cages incorporate many characteristics to enable owners to appreciate these magnificent creatures as well as providing them with a comfortable living environment. Some cages also include a clear, acrylic door that allows owners visibility of the birds, stainless steel wire mesh on the top and sides that allow air flow, and a laminated background that can be designed to be plain or include attractive scenery to suggest a natural environment.

The best way to obtain the right kind of birdcage for you is to find a supplier that allows for customization. Every bird is unique so why use the same birdcage for all of them? Customizable items include pull out floors and trays for easier clean up, various cage sizes to make it comfortable for a single bird or large enough for multiple birds to flit and frolic around, pull out dividers that allow owners to house multiple birds in a single unit, and hood lighting.

Bird Cage Accessories

Accessories are not absolutely necessary. However, accessories will increase the amount of activities your pets can do and create an overall pleasing environment for them to be in. The simplest one of all is a mirror beside one of the perches. Budgerigars in particular will love this and will spend hours chattering away to their little friend in the mirror. Some other accessories to think about including are:

· Bridge Play Stand: A bridge play stand allows your bird an area to climb and provides an area to hang toys.

· Recycling Feeder: While traditional feeders perform their function well, a recycling feeder provides your bird a constant supply of fresh food from an exterior reservoir. Note: Make sure to get a recycling feeder that features the ability to send back dropped foods into the external reservoir.

When you do decide that you would like to welcome a bird into your family, make sure you do your research and provide your bird with the items that are necessary for its comfort. Anything extra is just a bonus!

Then sit back and enjoy the beauty and sounds that will soon fill your home.
