Creating long lasting memories with loved ones is one of the attractions of a group getaway, planning, on the other hand, can be a pain when you’re trying to please everyone. Enter destination Val Thorens. The highest altitude resort in Europe, this winter wonderland really does have something for all; from breathtaking mountain views to over 600 kilometres of runs, making it the largest ski area in the world!

With the entertainment sorted, why not guarantee your hassle-free vacation with a stay in a beautiful catered chalet? Val Thorens has an extensive range suitable for any group size, and I’ve created a brief overview of some of my favourite to help you plan your dream winter escape.

Phoenix

Replacing ashes for snow, the Phoenix rises proudly from its icy environs and represents the epitome of luxury and style. Located in the heart of the resort in the newly built Balcons Residence, it’s only a short walk from the lively centre of restaurants, bars and shops. For seasoned snow-bunnies, the piste is pretty much on your doorstep, while beginners can easily catch the shuttle bus to other lifts from the reception.

However, with a private swimming pool, sauna, and panoramic glass balcony, getting out of the house could be a challenge. Built with comfort in mind, the large living area invites relaxation with comfy sofas, and the modern dining room comfortably hosts larger groups, while ensuite rooms boast jacuzzi baths for soaking aching muscles after a day on the slopes. If you’re looking for the ultimate luxury catered chalet, Val Thorens has got you covered.

Olivier

Sitting on the side of the slopes close to the town centre, some of the world’s best skiing is literally right outside your front door. While Olivier is a little less extravagant than its cousin Phoenix, its cosy, stylish decor makes you feel at home from the minute you arrive. Sleeping twelve comfortably, this is a great choice for family groups. Split into levels, the open plan living/dining area is at the top of the building. This is where you’ll find the best views from the terrace; imagine sipping sundowners as you watch the last skiers make their way home, the sun setting over the valley.

Catherine

There are only a few detached chalets in the area, and it’s safe to say that Catherine, sister to Olivier, is one of the best. Although she shares a sauna with her brother, Catherine has her own charm that makes her a fantastic destination for group holidays. You’ll find an inviting lounge area perfect for afternoon tea on the lower floor, and a large dining area on the upper floor with a terrace that offers fabulous views.

Often the most cherished holidays are those shared with friends and family. Ensure it’s memorable for the right reasons and treat yourself to a hassle-free getaway in a catered chalet. Val Thorens has something for all kinds of groups and it can’t wait to have you to stay.
