Real Club Seville Golf
The weather in the southern Spanish province of AndalucÃa is gorgeous all year round, allowing for the most civilised golf holidays Spain has to offer. The Real Club Seville has one of the best courses in the region, which consists of relatively flat but challenging holes. Getting to the green is not too difficult here, but navigating the sloped and slippery putting is very tricky. Located near the old town of Seville, this is an ideal afternoon getaway from the busy city.
Montecastillo Golf Club
This legendary course has hosted The Masters Tournament five times and has garnered a reputation as one of the world’s best courses. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the course is full of slopes and elevation changes, and is a challenge for golfers of all standards due to the variety of tee positions. Located just outside Cadiz, the club is easily reached from the beautiful old city and is surrounded by history.
Buenavista Golf Club
Designed by no other than Spain’s most famous golfing son, Seve Ballesteros, this course is located in northern Tenerife and enjoys incredible views over the Atlantic. The 18 holes here are split into equal amounts of par 3’s, 4’s and 5’s, but the real challenge here is to keep your eyes on the course and not on the views over the ocean and adjacent volcano. Situated in northern Tenerife, this course is also slightly quieter than those in the golf-crazy south of the island.
La Monacilla Golf Club
The holes at La Monacilla Golf Club are sown with Bermuda grass, giving them great durability all year round. With a mixture of mostly long and tough holes, the course is a challenge for even the most experienced golfers. After a long morning on the greens, visitors to La Monacilla enjoy relaxing in the colonial-style clubhouse, drinking cocktails and reminiscing about the day’s highlights.
Finca Cortesin
Luckily buggies are included as standard at this spectacularly hilly course. Elevation changes drastically throughout each hole, so expect to think long and hard before each shot. Although the course is most suitable for those with a handicap of sub-20, less experienced golfers can also have a fabulous day out here, finishing off on one of Spain’s best closing holes.
