Many people arrive in St Lucia not knowing what to expect other than sun, sea and sand. Whilst this is all part of the wonderful lifestyle here, I think it is important to know what living at The Landings is like and what the options available to you are. The weekend is the time which most people want to know about, so this is what a typical Friday, Saturday and Sunday here will consist of.
Friday Night
What better way to start your weekend than by taking in the majestic sunsets that you are treated to here? I believe that the best way to do this is on your terrace with an ice cold Sundowner or two. The terraces and the views they provide are one of the many perks of living at The Landings. This will be incredibly relaxing and enable you to fully unwind within the comfort of your own home.
The sunsets in St Lucia need to be seen to fully be appreciated. The reds, oranges and yellows contrasted against the blue sea create a sublime and breathtaking sight, which changes as the sun eventually dips into the ocean.
Saturday Daytime
Following a calm and serene evening, Saturday daytime is best spent exploring the island. By bike is a great way to do this and St Lucia features several terrific trails (suitable for novices). Mountain biking through the old sugar plantation of Soufriere is a popular choice, as you will see fantastic sights, soak up some culture and get some exercise – all at the same time. There are many amazing places to explore and sights to see, but the charming west coast town of Soufriere is a must visit.
Saturday Evening
One reason why Soufriere is a must visit is the excellent Creole dining scene here. After a day on the bike, you will want to reward yourself with a delicious meal and a few beverages. These are a few of my favourite restaurants in the area.
• Jungle Restaurant – A combination of French, Creole and Caribbean cuisine with tremendous views of the tropical gardens, bay and ocean.
• Ladera – Dasheene Restaurant at Ladera Resort is a popular choice thanks to its innovative dishes using local ingredients, plus the jaw-dropping views of the ocean in between St Lucia’s iconic twin volcanic peaks.
• The Still – With the picturesque ocean a few steps away, The Still Beach House offers relaxation and fine dining with authentic Creole cuisine.
Sunday
Unsurprisingly, there is no greater way to spend a Sunday than by relaxing on the beach with an ice cold Piton beer. It is the ultimate way to unwind and reflect on a brilliant weekend, plus it gives you the opportunity for beach games or a paddle if you wish. I would also recommend taking a picnic and heading out to one of the more secluded beaches on the island. These include Grande Anse St Lucia, Anse L’lvrogne and Anse Cochon.
For many, this is what a typical weekend on the island consists of. However, there are many more options, areas to explore and places to visit. For more suggestions on places to go and information about living at The Landings, contact me today and I will be happy to tell you more.
