Guideline for Blowing Glass Beads

2 Min Read

Blowing glass beads will not be very different from any other type of glass. It is generally the art of creating jewelry from molten glass that is manipulated with ease. Such beads are very important and it makes the art of glass blowing critical. When blowing glass to form beads, you will have to start with gathering together all the raw materials and molten glass is the notable one. A glass tubing and torch will also be necessary for this process to succeed and always ensure the temperatures are okay.

You should never attempt to kick-start the blowing process without all raw materials being in place. It might cause a lot of distractions that are not healthy. With your heat source burning, hold the glass tube on either end and have its middle part go through heating. You can minimize or maximize the flame to a level that you feel will make the tube hot fast. Be wary of overheating as that can end up damaging your glass beads if not careful enough. Only remove the tube from the flame once it has turned red hot since that shows it’s ready for blowing.

The tube will have become too soft and that will make it possible to stretch apart and lengthen the middle section. Gently break one end to make sure you are left with the stretched section. You have to be extra careful not to damage the pulled section which will mean all the effort you have put goes to waste. You will now have to return the tube back to the flame and this time it will be the end that you broke until it turns red hot. Once that has happened, the end you have burnt must be facing in an upward direction and that ensures the glass can slowly trickle down right to a ball. This step is very critical when blowing glass beads.

It should be repeated for as many times as possible depending on the size of the ball that you want to have. In some instances, you will be required to squeeze the tube and that will increase chances of getting everything right. However, that should only be done when it is necessary and not just when you feel like doing it. Finally, it will be time to customize your beads in the best way that you want them to appear. You have to do that before it cools down. You can re-shape the beads to thin or thick, long or short and many other customization’s you can manage. This will really make the beads look more personal by addressing your specific needs.

Once through, pull the beads out of the flame quickly and give them time to cool down. You will have your beads ready and that’s how simple it is for you to do things without seeking professional help. Alternatively, they can be bought at Pandahall in wholesale or retail in case you can’t blow the glass on your own.

Many people wonder how glass beads are manufactured but it’s through a simple process called blowing. This involves working on a molten glass which is the raw material and with few steps you will have your beads ready. These are the same procedures used by Pandahall to manufacture their beads.
