Go Self Catered on Your Next Val Thorens Ski Holiday

2 Min Read

Val Thorens is one of the finest skiing resorts not just in France or Europe, but in the world. A Val Thorens ski holiday leaves little room for disappointment, with many people wishing they never had to leave. It is the highest resort in Europe, boasting a charming and welcoming atmosphere as well as a vast range of different slopes to suit all abilities.

Popular and Picturesque

Encompassing a breathtaking mountain landscape, the views are something you won’t forget in a hurry. Having been built around 40 years ago, the resort is now capable of accommodating 20,000 visitors. And it often needs to, with its popularity continuing to go from strength to strength.

With the village sitting at 2300m above sea level, the resort has excellent and guaranteed snow from November right through until May. It is this factor that has contributed to the popularity of this resort over others within the Three Valleys (and the Alps as a whole), both early on in the ski season and right through until April and May.

For those who like the convenience of self-catering, the options for accommodation are many and varied. This is just a small cross-section of apartments.

Apartments

Whilst some of the original apartment buildings don’t necessarily have that chocolate box alpine charm that may be found at other resorts in the Three Valleys, this is actually due to the necessity of certain design features required to protect against the (luckily, unlikely) event of an avalanche.

However, the buildings that have been constructed more recently have been praised for their appearance, and make for a pleasant stay. (Even with that taken into consideration, most people choosing a Val Thorens ski holiday will be more concerned with being out on the slopes rather stuck inside their accommodation!)

Dome de Polset 304

Dome de Polset 304 is one of the best choices for couples or small families on a Val Thorens ski holiday. This bright and pleasant apartment is ski-in ski-out for the ultimate skiing convenience. Warm and cosy, this accommodation is located perfectly to access the main amenities of the resort, including La Folie Douce.

Reine Blanche 115

Reine Blanche 115 is a three-bedroom apartment that sleeps up to six guests, so it’s absolutely ideal for families or groups of friends. The living room has a TV with DVD player, whilst a well-equipped kitchen and two bathrooms make for a comfortable and practical place to stay with plenty of room to move.

Joker 1

Finally, Joker 1 is a one-bedroom apartment that provides open and spacious accommodation. It’s situated in the Arolles area, which is right at the entrance to the resort. With a really lovely kitchen and dining space, this is an ideal place to stay for those looking to enjoy home cooked food during their skiing holiday.

Regardless of whether you’re travelling as a family, a group of friends, in a couple or solo, there is a vast range of self-catering accommodation options available for your Val Thorens ski holiday. With something to suit everyone, you won’t have a problem finding the perfect place home away from home.
