From sunshine and fresh powder to top rate catered ski chalets, Tignes is a favourite among snow sports enthusiasts for good reason. Powder hounds flock here every year to take advantage of its extensive variety of runs. But the fun doesn’t stop on the slope. This winter escape is great all-round resort for all kinds of adrenaline junkies with plenty of opportunities to get your fix, and not all of them are on skis. So whether you’ve got the need for speed, the desire to fly high, or are daring enough to venture deep into the earth’s icy waters, finding a thrill that’s a little bit different is easy.

Ice Diving

You’re all geared up in your toasty Topstar wetsuit, face mask and gloves on, diving equipment connected, and you’re ready to enter an alien world of water and ice.

This is an experience truly unlike no other; it’s amazing the difference a bit of frozen water can make. Located in the centre of the resort, the diving school gives visitors a chance to explore the wondrous depths of the frozen landscape below the earth’s surface. With a certified instructor, you’ll dive to a depth of one to two metres where you’ll witness the strange beauty of the world below the water and explore for about twenty minutes.

Available from December to April, it’s a unique experience that self-described adventurers would find hard to pass up.

Helicopter Tours

If you’re someone who likes to take the thrills sky high, as well as admire the majesty of nature’s beauty, then this one’s for you. After exploring the mountains from below, take to the sky and observe them from above. Witnessing impressive the peaks of the magnificent Alps such as Mont Blanc will give you the full 360 experience. This is an experience that takes the expression “bird’s eye view” quite literally.

Speed Riding

For the more experienced, this is an activity that will elevate the sport to a whole other level. Up into the air, in fact.

A cross between skiing and paragliding, there’s no doubt that this sport is extreme. Using the sail to gain speed (up to 144 km/h!) you’ll be able to make tight turns and gain air off-piste, combining the thrill of flying high and whizzing down freshly powdered slopes. This hybrid activity will allow you to perform two types of slides, one in the snow and one in the air, giving you the freedom to transform the mountain terrain into your personal playground. The adventures are endless.

As you can see, there’s far more to this wintery paradise than meets the eye, and the opportunities to chase the adrenaline are limitless. So, get a group of fun-loving friends together and find yourselves a home away from home in one its cosy catered ski chalets; Tignes is waiting to get your heart rate soaring in the best way possible.
