On today’s market choosing a shower enclosure is more than simply picking the first product you like. The variety is now so vast that there are a lot of factors worth considering before you venture in to buying an enclosure.
Measuring the space that you plan to install your shower cubicle into may seem obvious to most but you will be surprised at how many people rush into buying the enclosure they really like and overlooking the size only to find that when it turns up their dream enclosure will not fit.
Believe it or not there are so many shower trays to choose from it can get really confusing with which one to buy. With quadrant showers you will need a quadrant shower tray. Depending on the type of installation you are having and the look you are going for there are several options of shower trays that can be brought to meet your needs; For Wet Room installations you will require a wet room floor former shower tray or a slim line shower tray that can be sunk into the floor. If you are after the modern Wet Room or modern look without the cost of having to actually have a Wet Room then use a slim line or low profile shower tray ranging from 25mm – 45mm. There are also many different materials to choose from; Find ABS Capped Acrylic Resin Trays or Acrylic Capped Steel trays that are durable but very affordable. If you are after a little more luxury then you can find stone resin and solid surface trays available in various colours that ooze appeal and will sure be a feature in your bathroom.
Lastly be aware of the space that you are installing your enclosure into. The shower is somewhere that you will be washing and most people will use the shower on a daily basis. You do not want to be cramped when you are getting in and out of the shower and should consider leaving a good enough amount of space so that you are comfortable. Also make sure that you think about the type of door you have on the enclosure and how it opens – if you opt for an outward opening hinged or pivot door then check which side you want it to open and that it won’t hit of any other bathroom furniture or fixings. Also don’t overlook how the bathroom door opens this can greatly affect your space, so ensure you purchase a door that suits your bathrooms needs. Lastly, if you are installing a shower cubicle in to a small space or loft conversion in particular then don’t overlook the ceiling height as they can be lower than standard.
