Organising a fun and memorable family vacation is no easy feat – especially if you are working with a tight budget. I always like to suggest Benidorm to any parent looking for an affordable yet sunny destination as this charming seaside resort on the east coast of Spain has plenty for the whole family. This includes gorgeous sun-kissed beaches, thril-ling water sports, beautiful flora and fauna and top-notch theme parks.
The best theme park, in my humble experience, is Terra MÃtica, which has a cool “myths and legends of ancient Mediterranean civilisations†theme. It features Rome, Greece, The Islands, Iberia and Ocionia areas which are all bursting with exhilarating and brilliantly designed attractions. Each area has adrenaline-inducing rides along with more gentle options for youngsters, so everyone is catered for here.
Iberia
There is plenty of family fun to be had in Iberia with the Ariates dodgem cars and Jabato mini-dodgems. The main attraction is unquestionably the high-octane Tizona looping rol-lercoaster with all kinds of twists, turns, drops and bends.
Greece
Escape the heat on the brilliant Triton’s Fury river ride with a number of breathtaking drops and tight turns – be prepared to get wet! SynKope is another highlight: a giant spinning discus at 90 kph at an angle of 120º. Greece also has attractions for the little ones at The Labyrinth of the Minotaur, Alucinakis and Kineto’s Temple.
Rome
Rome is home to the longest wooden rollercoaster in all of Europe, Magnus Colossus, which can reach incredible speeds of up to 100kph! Inferno is sure to get your blood pumping with all kinds of dizzying spins as Europe’s first ball coaster, whilst Rome is also home to plenty of kids’ rides that will provide them with an exciting but much calmer experience.
The Islands
The beautiful Mithos is a traditional fairground carousel lit up by hundreds of lights and great fun for the whole family, whilst the Rapids of Argos cranks things up a notch as a thrilling whitewater rafting experience in search of the Golden Fleece of mythology. Another highlight is The Rage of Achilles, another water-based ride which recreates a storm on the high seas.
Ocionia
Embrace Egyptian-themed fun at Ocionia, which has an amazing Falls of the Nile water rollercoaster with near vertical falls as you tear down the river’s rapids in a cool-looking sarcophagus boat. Infinnito, meanwhile, allows for lovely views of the entire park and way beyond from a 100-metre high viewing platform.
As you can clearly see, there is plenty of adrenaline-inducing fun to be had at Terra MÃti-ca, which has something for all ages. Before jetting off on your sunny family holiday to Benidorm, make sure that you arrange comprehensive travel insurance that covers all family members. Comprehensive travel insurance may not sound like a necessity, but it is always better to be safe than sorry; an injury could cost you a fortune without protec-tion in place. Instead, get peace of mind knowing that you are protected whilst taking the park’s rides by storm by investing in reliable and comprehensive travel insurance before leaving home.
