There’s so much to see and do in Menorca that it can be difficult to know what exactly you should pack into your days there. While we can’t plan your entire holiday out for you, we can give you some ideas for how to spend a single day on this gorgeous island.
Read on to learn about our top recommendations in Menorca. Villas where you can relax, delicious cuisine and fascinating history await.
Captivating Cuisine
You’ve got to eat, even (or perhaps especially) when you’re on holiday – and it’s a great way to fill your time and your stomach, while simultaneously getting to know what foods the locals like. For breakfast, have some guacamole on toast paired with a smoothie or coffee at Café Baixamar, located right on Mahon’s marina. Try a seafood (lobster is a favourite) or rice dish at Cap Roig for lunch, and enjoy its lovely clifftop location about ten minutes away from Mahon. When dinner rolls around, head to Cas Ferrer De Sa Font if you’re in Ciutadella, for organic and typically Menorcan cuisine – only the bravest will try the octopus carpaccio!
Have at Some History and Culture
The island is filled to the brim with history. Explore Mahon, the capital, where you will find two churches (Sant Francesc and the eighteenth-century Carme), the Museum of Menorca (set in a seventeenth-century monastery) and the Xoriguer Gin Distillery (gin is, after all, the island’s top export – so you’d better test it out for yourself). If you head down to Ciutadella, you can wander around exploring the historic buildings and charming streets. Make sure you visit the Old Town. Here you can see the Santa Maria Cathedral or, if you need a new pair of sandals (Menorca is famous for them, you know), head to one of the local shoe shops.
A Menorca Villa: Your Home Away from Home
There are so many fantastic accommodation options in Menorca. Villas, however, tend to be the most popular – and it’s not difficult to see why. They are spacious, private, luxurious and located all across the island… the perfect addition to any holiday. Choose to stay in a Menorca villa and you can end each and every one of your days on a calm note. Relax with a glass of some of the local gin, spend quality time with your loved ones and reflect on the lovely time you’ve had so far.
There is so much on offer for travellers here. Villas, history, culture and cuisine… what more could you want from a holiday? Spend at least one of your days on this beautiful island eating the local cuisine, sampling the extensive history and culture and relaxing in your villa in the evening sipping gin.
