Moli de Dalt – There is one particular site in Sant Lluis that is worth a special mention. The Moli de Dalt, is a remarkably well-preserved windmill dating from the 18th century. It now serves as the base for the Ethnological Museum of Menorca, making it a must-see for tourists that want to glimpse what life was like here over 300 years ago.
Torret – The quaint village of Torret is an excellent place to experience Menorca’s idyllic rural life. Most accommodation is located closer to the beach, but a short trip will reveal the many whitewashed homes of Torret, complete with expansive bougainvillea spreading out in all directions. If you want a taste of traditional architecture and rural life, Torret is a destination well worth visiting.
Morro d’Alcaufar – If you follow the coast east, you’ll eventually cut north to the point where an ancient, solitary watchtower stands vigil over the shores of Menorca. Villas to rent are plentiful around the nearby town of S’Algar, but the tower is also close to the villages located around the south eastern tip.
Cami de Cavalls – This ancient route was once used by cavalrymen to patrol the island and safeguard it against potential invaders. A significant portion of the road takes in the south eastern tip of the island. It’s a popular trail for cyclists and ramblers seeking to explore the island.
Keep these sites in mind as you explore the south eastern area around your Menorca villas. There is plenty more to see and do, but these sites give you a good head start.
