Winter sports holidays can be a fantastic family getaway, but don’t expect being out on the slopes all day to tire your little ones out (all that fresh air seems to give them more energy, not less). Thankfully, in Les Menuires, skiing is only one of a range of child-friendly activities to try. Winner of the French tourism accreditation “Family Plusâ€, the Alpine resort prides itself on its family-centred facilities so you can rest assured that not only will you have a great ski holiday, your kids will have a great time too.
Why Les Menuires For You and Your Family?
Apart from its excellent family credentials, the Alpine resort boasts a wide range of intermediate skiing and, of course, access to the vast Three Valleys ski area of which it is a part. Excellent ski school provision means that you and your family will be getting the very best instruction and, to top it all off, accommodation here is a third lower in price than its glitzy neighbours: Méribel, Val Thorens and Courchevel.
Fun Off the Slopes
All parents know that there is much more to a family ski holiday than just sliding around on the slopes. The one thing I always get asked by parents worried about entertaining young ones in a ski resort is what else is on offer. Luckily in Les Menuires skiing is just a part of a full range of children’s entertainment.
•A Roller Coaster with a Winter Twist
If you or your little ones have ever wondered what it feels like to zoom down a bobsleigh run but you don’t fancy taking the risk, then Les Menuires’ Speed Mountain is for you. This railed toboggan cruises down a series of twists and turns for a kilometre. Designed to resemble a bobsleigh run, there are landscaped huts and characters to see along the way. Thankfully the speed at which you descend is up to you as there is a brake on board, which makes this perfect for all ages (five and upwards).
•Tobogganing Adventure
Take the Les Menuires ski lift up to the Roc des 3 Marches and you’ll discover the starting line for the resort’s fun-filled 4km toboggan run Roc’n Bob. Go down in tandem with your little ones or challenge older kids to a race down the long series of twists and bends – including the Roc Rapids and Never Ending Canyon – for some seriously fast-paced fun.
•Waterslide Swimming Pool Action
Not all kids like battling blizzards or fog out on the pistes, so if you or your children are fair-weather skiers then shelter from inclement conditions in the state-of-the-art pool complex in Les Bruyères. Children will love the Aquafun pool with its waterslides, ice caves and games and, as a reward for playing with them in the kids pool, you could finish off your visit with a massage or beauty treatment in the wellness centre. The adult-only spa here includes a hammam and balnéo bath as well as a selection of massage treatments to pamper tired muscles. Bliss.
With so much to keep families happy, there really is no better place for a family ski holiday than Les Menuires. Ski the epic Three Valleys all day, then come back to the resort for some great family entertainment – by the time you get home you might well need another holiday to recover.
